Peace, Love, Snow

Hi All,
Today I have a project for our first challenge of 2014 at 613 Avenue Create
Our sponsors are ALL DRESSED UP  and SQUIGGLEFLY.  I chose an image from All Dressed Up for our optional theme of  Colors, Sights, Sounds of Winter.
I realize green isn't a color associated with Winter but the snowflakes are!
And this particular shade of green was so difficult to photograph!
It's really a little deeper than this.
The candies are called Sixlits...remember those as a kid or am I dating myself?  Anyway I thought they were perfect for little "snowballs"!
It's very hard to see but I used Icicle Stickles on the snowflakes and the "hi".
So that's it for now...thanks for stopping by!  And don't forget to link up on our
We have some awesome sponsors and prizes!

Hugs,
Kathi

There's No One Like You

Hi All!
Geesh being sick and busy is not a good combo!  Usually by this time of the year I have tons of Valentine's completed!  Oh well...guess I'll just have to eat the candy I don't have time to package and decorate!  Mmmm...nom nom...LOL...that's the sound of a true chocoholic!  :)

Well I did get this one completed and mailed to my daughter in college.  She just loves those Andes candies.  When we would go out to eat at The Olive Garden they would bring everyone at the table a candy with the bill...well she usually ate them all!  And want to ask for more!  LOL!  Hmm wonder where she gets that from??  :)

Color Challenge at JDE!

Hi Everyone!  Back to reality of a full work week, at least for me anyway!  Hopefully you'll be able to join us this week at Jackson's Digital Expressions for our Color Challenge using RED,WHITE & BLACK.
Personally, I love this color combo and they're my husband's favorite colors sooo it was the perfect opportunity to create an anniversary card for this challenge.

I was playing around in PhotoScape (a free photo editing program) and I set the image as "reverse black and white".  I just love how it looks!  I used the My Man II image and cropped it from the waist up.

Pink or Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge at JDE!

Hi all!!
This week at Jacksons Digital Expressions our challenge is to create a project using the color pink or a project supporting Breast Cancer Awareness (pink, ribbon, sentiments, etc).  And members of the DT and supporters have decided to donate .25 per entry to go to BC treatment.  So far we are up to $1.25 per entry!  We are not asking for donations we are simply asking to create an item and enter in the challenge at JDE this week.  Please feel free to advertise this on your own blogs because the more entries = more $ donated!

So onto my projects for the week.  First is a card I created using the Awareness Walk digi and I cropped just one girl from the group.

I stippled the cloud background and used an oval Spellbinder for the image which I cut the outline of the girls back.  Colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.  The stamp is from My Favorite Things - Pure Innocence - Have Hope set.  The dies are from Verve called Charming Ovals.

JDE is sponsored again this week by Bugaboo Stamps.  I used the Ribbon Bear Leaning digi to make a
5 x 7 photo mat for my cousin who has been dealing with breast cancer herself.  She will be doing the relay for life in October.  I paper pieced the ribbon and the heart on his bum  :)   and I used chalks to color him in.

This week is also Stella Says Sketch #120

So everybody get your craft on this week and join us for our BCA Challenge and let's raise some money!!

Graduation thank you card & enabler alert :)

Just when you thought I was done with the graduation stuff I finally finished the thank yous!  The shirt die is from MFT and the Thank you stamp and the Jotted Heart Die are from one of my favorite stamp companies Verve.  And Verve is having their 5th Anni-Verve-sary Sale!  You can save 10-50% off stamps and dies.  Sale ends 8/24.  I'll be entering this card in their Customer Card Carnival and maybe I can win some new stamps!  Whoo hoo!
Hugs!

More graduation cards

I made these cards for two of Shianne's long time friends.  Alyssa is a "ginger" and Missy is a brunette  :)

The digi stamp is by The Greeting Farm called Grad Anya.  The die is from My Favorite Things and I ran the yellow through my Cuttlebug with the tiny dot embossing folder.  Then I touched all of the dots with Stickles.  The sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva.  I colored the skin with Copics E00 and E000 and the rest with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Graduation card and a tip

It's time to catch up!  I really have made many things over the past few months but I've only had time to post some of them.  So I am going to try to post a few things  :)  Here is a card I made for my daughter for graduation.
On the scalloped edge I rubbed the Perfect Medium by Ranger that came with my Perfect Pearls set.  It's kind of tacky to the touch.  I then used a brush to "paint" on some PearlEx #674 Interference Gold.  I really like the effect.

Supplies:  stamps by My Favorite Things, Cuttlebug folder used on the banner, scalloped oval by Spellbinders.

More to come!   Kathi  :)

So let's get to it!  My challenge was to create Anything but a card.

I created a photo album for my husband.  As soon as I saw this digi I fell in love with it and had to use it! The image is called Proud Popa and here is my inspiration photo.  It was meant to be  :)

I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol (an odorless mineral spirits) to blend the color.  Members of the DT will be doing tutorials on coloring with various types of media and this technique will be included.  So stay tuned for those!  I used the Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants dies, the mini heart is from a Verve die called I heart U, large heart die is called Jotted Heart (Verve) and the teal die cut is from a My Favorite Things Die-namics/stamp set called Vertical Greetings.  The black paper is basic Grey called oliver greyson/ver-2702.  I used my Bind-It-All which has been sitting on the shelf for too long!

Here are some of the pics from the album:

Such sad news....

Hi all...just bringing myself to create a post.  On August 31st two of my daughter's friends and soccer teammates were killed in a car accident.  Bella & Elana were only 16 and 17.  They did not have their seat belts on and the other two girls in the car who did have theirs on survived.  There was also another car with 5 other teammates right behind them and saw it all happen.  They tried to help the girls but couldn't.  Bella was starting her Sr. year but instead her funeral was on the first day of school.  It's still so unbelievable.  So I coped one of the best ways I know how...crafting.  I made the 7 girls involved composition book journals.  I know how therapeutic journaling can be and they need every tool they can get to help them through this tragic time in their lives.  The entire team and community have really shown their strength and ability to come together and help each other grieve.  I had just recently bought the My Favorite Things "Love you with all my Heart" stamp set and it was just so fitting for the journals.  My daughter suggested using Bella + Elana's favorite colors...blue and yellow.  The girls really liked them and I hope they help.
The color doesn't show well but it's a Periwinkle blue and it's very old from Making Memories yellow from Core`dinations.  The side was punched with a MS punch,  I used the Grand Nestabilities Grand Labels Eleven, MFT stamp.  I used chalks to color her in and put a little Jolee's crystal in her barrette.

So if ANYTHING good could possibly come from this tragedy it is that my daughter and I have become even closer.  I think she has helped me through this more than I've helped her.  How did she become so mature and strong?   I can't stop hugging her....  So please hug your children whether they are 3 or 30 and make sure they always wear their seat belts.    Hugs....Kathi
