A new direction.....

Wow!  I can't believe it's been over a year since I've posted anything!  My world has been very busy with family, a new job and a new creative direction!  My new love is very different from paper crafting and has consumed my world!

I've started a face painting business!  Of all the arts, crafts and various mediums I've tried I would never have thought I'd be painting.  It all started with volunteering during charity events.  One day my friend, Kim, learned that the face painter who was hired for their union clambake had canceled.  She quickly informed them that she had a friend who could do it!  Talk about panic!  LOL!  A real "job" as a face painter!  And as they say, the rest is history!

My little business is called Kathi's Creative Faces and it's been growing and keeping me very busy. This is the link to my Facebook page Kathi's Creative Faces where I have more information about the business and pictures of my work.  I'd appreciate it if you could like my page too!  Here are a few pics:

And in other amazing news.....I was contacted by Shutterfly for permission to use one of my graduation centerpieces on their blog!   This project has blown up on Pinterest with over 13,000 pins!  Oh my!!  I'm not sure when it will be posted but probably soon!  Here's a pic of the project  :)
Well if you've made it to the end then I thank you!!!  I'll try to update more often but it most likely will be face painting related!

Hugs!!

Graduation thank you card & enabler alert :)

Just when you thought I was done with the graduation stuff I finally finished the thank yous!  The shirt die is from MFT and the Thank you stamp and the Jotted Heart Die are from one of my favorite stamp companies Verve.  And Verve is having their 5th Anni-Verve-sary Sale!  You can save 10-50% off stamps and dies.  Sale ends 8/24.  I'll be entering this card in their Customer Card Carnival and maybe I can win some new stamps!  Whoo hoo!
Hugs!

Graduation Party and Decorations! (pic heavy)

Now the last of the graduation posts...the party!!  The kids had a blast!  My mom splurged and rented an inflatable water slide!  And because the party was July 3rd and the store was closed July 4th they couldn't pick it...we had it for 2 days for the price of 1!!  Awesome deal  :)  Ok first the crafts....

This banner was made using the banners2 SVG from Designs on Cloud 9.  The letters are from the Alphabet Banners SVG by My Scrap Chick.  The hearts are from Verve called Jotted Heart and the t-shirt die is by My Favorite Things.  I found the yellow glitter paper at Joann's.
Now I am really happy with how these centerpieces came out!  You know when you have one of those moments when you kind of impress yourself when you come up with an idea?  Trust me it doesn't happen to me often! LOL!  But I LOVE this idea  :)  I printed out wallet sized pics of Shianne throughout the year and mounted them on CS and attached to lollipop sticks!  I found brand new wooden boxes at Salvation Army and covered with coordinating papers.  The pennant is a Spellbinders die.
Crazy for You was a musical she was in and she is the "cowboy" in jeans and the maroon shirt, this was her big scene where she is shot  LOL!  I made the 2012 in Make the Cut and cut with the Cricut.
Shi has been friends with Missy and Alyssa for 6 years, they met in Jr. High and have been great friends ever since.  As I was looking for pics I found this one from 2007 and paired it up with their prom picture from this year.  The girls absolutely loved it!  I think it is so cool!  They have grown to be beautiful women.

**UPDATE**  I've had several people ask how I kept the lollipop sticks to stand up and not fall over.   I took a block of floral foam and used a steak knife to cut a piece that wedged into the boxes and recycled formula can.  I put some hot glue in the bottom of the can to hold the foam but if it's wedged in there tight then you don't need it.  I would love to see your interpretation of these if you make them!  And please link back to this post if you do  :)

Now time for the crazy fun!  The kids started going down the water slide 2 and 3 at a time which resulted in going over the end of it!!

I know how much the kids like taking pics of themselves so I made a photo booth with accessories but they were so busy they didn't even touch them til night time but we did get a few pics.  I found a lot of the free printable props at Accent the Party (scroll down).

 And finally...the bonfire...so awesome!

Thanks for making it to the end!  LOL!

Graduation Day :)

Ah...my little girl has just graduated from high school.  You know when they're 5 and you're sitting at their Kindergarten graduation watching them thinking of what they will be like when graduating from high school?  Well I could never have imagined that my daughter would be so intelligent, mature, compassionate, so motivated to live her life to the fullest.  The list of activities this year (and every year) were overwhelming for me but she juggled it all!  Just to name a few she was goalie for the Varsity soccer team, swim team, drama club, academic decathlon, RI Honor Society, Girl Scouts (13 years!) and work.  Whew!  Needless to say we didn't get to spend a lot of quality time together this year  :(   So now my heart aches because she is going away to college next month, and like most parents I worry about her in this unpredictable world we live in.  I know she will blossom with all of the new opportunities she'll experience and she can come home on weekends it's in Massachusetts!  So here we are on graduation day and a couple of little things I made.

More graduation cards

I made these cards for two of Shianne's long time friends.  Alyssa is a "ginger" and Missy is a brunette  :)

The digi stamp is by The Greeting Farm called Grad Anya.  The die is from My Favorite Things and I ran the yellow through my Cuttlebug with the tiny dot embossing folder.  Then I touched all of the dots with Stickles.  The sentiment is a freebie from Desert Diva.  I colored the skin with Copics E00 and E000 and the rest with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Graduation card and a tip

It's time to catch up!  I really have made many things over the past few months but I've only had time to post some of them.  So I am going to try to post a few things  :)  Here is a card I made for my daughter for graduation.
On the scalloped edge I rubbed the Perfect Medium by Ranger that came with my Perfect Pearls set.  It's kind of tacky to the touch.  I then used a brush to "paint" on some PearlEx #674 Interference Gold.  I really like the effect.

Supplies:  stamps by My Favorite Things, Cuttlebug folder used on the banner, scalloped oval by Spellbinders.

More to come!   Kathi  :)
