Washi birthday pail

Hi again!
I'm here with this week's Anything Goes challenge at Through The Craftroom DoorI made a girly birthday bucket for my son's classmate.  I used the Sassy Cheryl's image Let's Party!  Colored with Copics and can you believe it...I forgot the Stickles!!  I didn't even realize it until it was long gone!  (sigh)  That's ok...I'll live...it just would have looked so much better!  LOL!  Anyway, moving on...I actually used some of my washi tape stash!  And the pail was from the $1 bin at Target.  I put some Disney hand sanitizer and a magic washcloth in there with a $10 bill.  What girl doesn't like cash...even if she's only 5!
 see...no Stickles = blah  :(
The sentiment was a freebie from Paulette at Create With TLCShe is a very generous artist with daily freebies, go check out her shop!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday Shianne!

Today my "little girl" turn 18!  I don't know where the time has gone.  It seems like just yesterday we were having tea parties and reading bedtime stories.  I have been so blessed to have such a compassionate, intelligent and beautiful daughter.  I love you Shi!

Here is one of her cards.  She is obsessed with the BBC science fiction tv series Dr. Who.  I found this after doing a Google search and  this image came from Tumblr.com  I don't know who to give credit to it didn't say on the image and it was pre-colored.

I used my new MFT Die-namics Fishtail Dies, papers from My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose 6x6 stack

Sentiment was a freebie by Paulette at Create with TLC

I can't even tell you how excited she was about this card!  It was too funny...she's such a geek  :)

Thanks for visiting today and I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving here in the states has a wonderful day!  Remember those still affected by Sandy and I am thankful that we were safe and unscathed!

Hugs,
Kathi

Zebra print & Bling Oh My!

Hi again!

I'm on a roll this week!  Another birthday at work this time my new office mate Jen.  She loves Zebra and pink so here's what I came up with...
Bugaboo digi "Attitude" colored with Prismacolor pencils + Gamsol, skin colored with Copics
Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Square, Star Dust Stickles on the edges, Black Diamond Stickles on the polka dots on dress and earrings, Glossy Accents on her glasses/lips/hair highlights
Jennifer cut with the Sizzix Sizzlits Script alphabet then coated with the Star Dust Stickles, Jolee's Hotfix Crystals which I've been adhering with the Glossy Accents.  I think that has a stronger bond.

JDE Inks and Such Challenge

It's time for another Jackson's Digital Expressions Challenge!  As usual it's Anything Goes and I'm featuring one of the new releases Just Purses II.  I tried something different today,  I colored my image in with Copics (pink RV63 and Cool Gray No. 5 on the handle) and Pearl Ex on the bag and the light purple flower under the paper flower.  I used silver, interference violet, duo red-blue and flamingo pink.  Unfortunately, the shimmer does not show up in any photo!  You'll have to trust me when I say it's a very pretty effect!  LOL!  Papers by Coredinations - Gemstones and stamp by Verve.

Jackson's Digital Expressions Challenge and some tips!

This week it's my turn to host the new Inks and Such challenge at JDE!  Inks and Such is a challenge where you can showcase your coloring talents.  And soon we will have tutorials and tip and techniques to share with you.  This week I challenged the DT to make a card that was not the typical A4 size.  I made two this week.
This is a new release called Moma's Suga.  I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.  Colors used: 942,940,914,941,946,945,927,1093,1065,906,1086,929,1014.  I inked the edges of the scalloped oval with a pigment ink then went over it with the nub and Gamsol and it actually smoothed it out nicely!

Here is a gift card holder made using the Just Shoes XI image.  Colored with Prismacolors 932,956,1008,935.  The card holder base is made by folding the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Grand Labels Eleven die cut in half.  I used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss once folded in half.  Don't you wish they would either name or # their folders so I could tell you exactly which one was used?  Anyway, scalloped circle and center circle both Spellbinders.  Hard to tell but there are dots of Stickles around the scallops.

Here's a visual for the die except your score line will be down the center.

Here's a tip for making the pennant if you don't have a die or SVG:

Place the end of the paper diagonal in a square punch, see the top left corner, that will be the inside of your pennant "tail".

So that's it!  Come check out the amazing talent of the other DT members at JDE and join us for this new challenge!

Card + soda bottle gift

Here's one of my quickie cards.  The card base (plaid and already scalloped) was a blank note card from Target I think.  PTI stamps used:  Birthdays by the Numbers and Big Birthday Wishes.

And here's a quick way to package gifts.  This took me about 10-15 minutes to put together.

Supplies needed:  2 liter soda bottle
                            exacto knife
sticker paper or paper and double sided tape
filler like shredded paper or tissue
                            ribbon or bow

And because I was in a hurry the sticker paper wrinkled at the bottom...grrr...LOL
Step #1     Cut a "door" in the side of the bottle with the exacto knife.  So you will be cutting 3 sides,
do not cut a complete hole in the bottle.

Step #2    Put some filler in the bottle then add items and more filler so the items are snug and don't shift.

Step #3   Print your saying on the sticker paper or regular paper and cut it so it is larger than your opening
in the bottle.  This is how you will hide your "door".

Step #4   Close the opening and place the paper over it to seal the items inside.

Step #5  Decorate with ribbon on the top and that's it!

Just be careful when putting your items in because the edges can be sharp!!  Advise your recipient to do the same!  If I had time I would have decorated the sticker paper more but considering it was a last minute gift and card it was ok.  And my daughter's friend liked it so that's all that mattered  :)  Little kids love these!  I actually used to mail the smaller soda bottles but that was years ago.  I would be too afraid to do that now...things tend to get "lost" too often now  :)

Have fun!

Birthday card challenges

Hi all,

Here's a birthday card I've submitted for two challenges.  First is Birthday Sundaes where the challenge is to create a birthday card using you old neglected stash.  No problem...have PLENTY of that!!  LOL!!
And the challenge at Sweet Stampin Challenge is to use your Punches & Dies.

So from my ancient stash of paper came the gingham from Scrapbook Wizard paper pack (said 2005 on the front!), purple Bazzil CS, purple brads, DJ Inkers present stamp colored with chalks and Crystal stickles, the Happy Birthday is an unmounted stamp that I've had for about 10 years and never used!  I wish I had written the co. name on it but I didn't, I ran a line of stickles down the left side of the HB, and the heart is a Fiskars punch.  I was trying to show the dimension in the second pic.

Thanks for stopping by!   Kathi   :)
