I Love You SMORE!

Hi all!
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!  Today I have my DT project for the last challenge of 2013 at 613 Avenue Create.  I can't believe it's been a year since I started the weekly challenge blog with Chana and I'm so glad I did  :)  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps and I've used the Old Snow Star digi for my project.

So here's the story behind the title/project.  Ever since my daughter, Shianne, was little she would say "I love you" and my reply would be "I love you more".  Well then that would turn into a playful argument of "No...I love YOU more" until one day IO told her not to argue with her mother  LOL!  She's 19 and we still say it and laugh.  I love that kid!  :)  So between that and the fact that she was a Girl Scout for 13 years she can't help bu love smores...hence the "I love you smore!" project.  I'll send it to her at school when she goes back next month.

I used a very versatile SVG file from My Scrap Chick called Caddy Essentials.  I used the #7 caddy, made two of them and glued together.  She has some incredible files and great prices too!  You should check it out.
Until next time!
Hugs,
Kathi

I made myself something!

I don't know about you guys but I very rarely make myself anything.  Well the challenge at JDE is the color challenge to use red, blue and purple.  Also we are being sponsored this week by A Day for Daisies digi stamps.  I just love this image called Growing in a Snowglobe.  I decided to make something to hang on my office door, the finished size is 8 x 10.
The black and blue paper bases were cut from a banner file which was a free weekly set from Designs on Cloud 9.  The Scalloped border is a Spellbinders die with the Jolee's Hotfix crystals.  The ribbon is stiff and sparkly and was very easy to stamp on.  The letters are from a CTMH set called Chocolate Alphabet small.
I used Copics E00 and E000 for her skin and Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol for everything else, Stickles on her wings and center of flowers, I used PearlEx #673 interference violet inside the snowglobe (doesn't show in pictures though!)

Ok so here is my "goof".  I was almost done and below is the original border with the additional die used to cut the hearts and dots which was fine until I decided to to fill them with Stickles.  I was so not happy with the result and mad at myself for "ruining" and almost finished project.  I'm sure you've been there LOL!  Anyway I decided to cover it with another scalloped piece and added the Jolee's crystals.  I am much happier with the final result!  Whew!

Update and Thomas the Tank Birthday

**Update to my post Such sad news:  It's been a long month and a half but my daughter seems to be doing well but there are some of the girls who were much closer to them who continue to have a difficult time dealing with the loss.  The team as a whole has been doing well considering, some days better than others.  The team has been so busy with fundraising for the families including a Faculty vs. Girls soccer game.  Boy did those teachers want to win! But they didn't  ;)   Thanks to all who dropped me a line of concern and encouragement...it's very heartwarming and appreciated  :) ***

Now...on a much happier note my son Niko turned 2 this week.  He absolutely loves
Thomas the Tank so that was the theme this year.  Here are some of decorations I made.

The invitation, in hindsight I should have done the lettering in black but that's ok.  Thomas pic
is a JPG I found online.  The blue glitter CS is from Michaels 12x12 sheet.

I used foam rectangles for dimension.  I found the foam at the recycling place I go to.  I cut them in half,
one side had adhesive just peel the paper off.  The other side is smooth so I glued it to the paper.

So this is my Ahh haa moment  :)    1st pic is a cupcake wrapper, I then cut out Thomas and used it as the center of the 2 1/2 " scalloped circle layered on the black 2 3/4" now this circle fits perfectly on top of these plastic containers from Walamart's own brand of baby food.  There is a date stamp on the outside but it wipes off with a Clorox wipe.
And yes...I did separate the colors of  M+M's!  LOL!! Hey I'm a stickler for details  :)
So now I have orange, green and brown for Halloween projects!

These are packs of Trident gum, Thomas scrapbook paper, 1" scalloped circle and stamp by Verve.
Party hat is a free SVG from SVGcuts.com.  I used a piece of 12x12 dotted CS and filled the hat on the page (it was a little big for him) , #2 is a "Varsity" font cut with MTC and the Cricut.

Niko ready for cake!!

And lastly, his birthday sign which he loved.  I used the Street Sign cartridge cut at 6" and the 2 cut at 8".  Thomas is a MTC file found in the gallery.  I tweaked it some as it had way too many little pieces so I made them more solid.  Thomas is cut at 12".  And there are two holes punched in the top corners that I had balloons tied to.  So that's it for the Thomas birthday...any questions let me know!  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday cards

Hi all!

Here's a few birthday cards I've thrown together.  Hope you like  :)

Ok I just LOVE this card!  Love the colors  :)  The paper is from We R Memory Keepers the stripes is called "Classy" and the heels/saying is from one sheet that I cut up called "Stiletto".  I used a MS border punch then inked all edges with black.  Then on each of the heels I heat set a Jolee's Swarovski element/crystal.

close up...the sentiment inside reads: May all your birthday wishes come true!
This is one of those pre-made pack of 8 cards from Michael's for $1.50.   I added the scalloped oval (an SVG) with the Verve bday phrase.  I used VersaMark on the edges then "painted" #680 Duo Red-Blue Pearl Ex powder on it.  The pic doesn't show what a beautiful iridescent shine it has.   I used foam dots underneath for dimension and added 2 Jolee's crystals for the eyes.
And here's a card for my brother who loves the Greenbay Packers (don't know why...we live in New England!!)  This was a MTC file I found in the gallery and didn't write down who made it but there were a couple in there.
That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by!  :)      Kathi

Harry Potter/Slytherin t-shirts

My daughter Shianne is a hard core HP fan (which is probably an understatement!) so we went to the midnight opening of HP and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2.  For the occasion I made my first freezer paper T's.  They are so easy!  So Shi loves the Slytherin House so she found an image already on a tshirt and was able to download the jpg and transfer it to my MTC and then cut it out on the Cricut.  I had to do 3 coats of the green on black.

On the back I put our last name and her friends, and since she's a soccer goalie of course that's what she would be in Quidditch  :)

Ok so not only the t-shirts but they made brooms and wands out of sticks Shi brought back from Girl Scout camp!  Did I mention she's hardcore?  LOL!!  I give them credit because people were snickering and making comments and they just ignored them.  I always did encourage her to be herself and not care what other people thought  :)  I guess it worked !  So here's the end result.

RN, Teacher gifts and grad favors...whew!

Wow I can't believe it's been a month!  Whew!  Well I've been a little busy in all areas of my life  :)  I've altered several more of the little holders I found at the recycling place.  First was a special project that I made for the RN's at the assisted living facility where my client spent his final days.  He lost his long battle with cancer on June 8th.  The nurses and Hospice where so unbelievably compassionate and caring to such a wonderful man and friend.  It touched my heart so I wanted to make them something special.
before & after
paper by Imaginisce #000455 Loves Me/Weak in the Knees, heart #000457 run through the Cuttlebug with the pin dot folder then I touched all of the dots with Liquid Pearls, "Smallest Things" phrase by Verve as well as the matching "Classy Label" die/stamp, heart cut with the Verve "Jotted Heart" die.

filled with a lot of Avery sticky notes, pads, pens
matching card...oval by SVG.com "Nested Lacey Shapes", heart is a Spellbinders die, stamp by Verve

inside of card...stamp by Verve
Next I have teacher gifts for Denzel's teacher and her assistant.  She told me today I make the best gifts  :)  I saw this idea at Papertrey Ink  here.  There's a PDF with the journal questions.  I  tweaked and retyped mine in a different font.
paper by Basic Grey's Sweet Threads line swt-3278, Verve heart die, matching cardstock from DCWV stack, phrase stamp "all About You" set by Verve

butterfly stamp "Chicks Rule" set and matching die "Flutterby" by Verve
journal questions in an acetate pillow box and a "leatherette" journal (so is that faux leather?  LOL)

Teacher assistant gift...much simpler...I was running out of time and went to bed at 1:00 a.m.!  You know how it is when you want/need to finish something!  :)
filled Bath & Body products
I made these 1"x8" cellophane bag favors for his classmates.  Filled with skittles...yum!
Circles cut at 2.5" and 2.75" stamp by Stampendous, grad cap is an SVG I found online and forgot where I got it (sorry my bad!) and the font (2011) was loaded in my MTC.  The can was a large powdered formula can that I repurposed  :)
Sorry this was so long but I hope you found some good ideas or inspiration......Kathi  :)
