New Challenge Blog starting in January!!

Hi!!  As I mentioned yesterday Jackson's Digital Expressions will be ending on Dec. 31st.  Chana (creator of JDE) asked me to join her in a new endeavor and because I love working with such a talented lady, I agreed!  We have most of the JDE Design Team joining us and we'll have the same sponsors in 2013.  Here is the link to the new blog:

Now I am always quick to say that drawing is not my strength!  I say I'll build you something though!  LOL!  However, I drew this for the blog banner and I actually like it!  It's simple, country, whimsy but those are some of the styles I like.  I have very eclectic taste.  I colored it with chalks, Prismacolor pencils/Gamsol and acrylic paints.  Some highlights of Stickles too.

Here are the details of our first challenge and we hope you become a follower and join our "neighborhood".

Challenge #1 Anything Goes

start date is Sunday January 6, 2013

and our sponsor will be Bugaboo Stamps!

Winner will receive 7 images from Bugaboo

Hope to see you in January!  Until then have a happy and safe holiday season!  And don't forget to wear your seat belts!  :)

Hugs,
Kathi

Color Challenge at JDE!

Hi Everyone!  Back to reality of a full work week, at least for me anyway!  Hopefully you'll be able to join us this week at Jackson's Digital Expressions for our Color Challenge using RED,WHITE & BLACK.
Personally, I love this color combo and they're my husband's favorite colors sooo it was the perfect opportunity to create an anniversary card for this challenge.

I was playing around in PhotoScape (a free photo editing program) and I set the image as "reverse black and white".  I just love how it looks!  I used the My Man II image and cropped it from the waist up.

 inside sentiment by Verve Stamps

Additional supplies:  Dies: Spellbinders and MFT, license plate letters by MFT, My Mind's Eye striped paper, red/white papers from stash and black CANDI dots.

I hope you'll join us at JACKSON'S DIGITAL EXPRESSIONS this week!  Thanks for stopping by!

I don't have an attitude problem...

I have a personality you can't handle!!  LOL!!  I LOVE this sentiment!  And it was perfect for a birthday card for a friend at work.  This goes along with the color challenge of Red, Black & White at Jackson's Digital Expressions.  I used the Friends Wine 2  image and, if you read my blog then you'll know, I cropped Ruby's head from the main image.  I can never use anything the way you're supposed to!  LOL!  The sentiment came with the Ruby Tidbits - attitude digi but I had to retype it so it fit on my card.

So here is my easel card and a pic of the main image that I cropped.

Details:  Spellbinder's circle/scalloped circle, corner rounder, image colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol, Icicle Stickles on earrings/shirt, Glossy Accents on lips/glasses/wine glass, papers My Mind's Eye/stash and black CANDI dots.

Have a great week everyone!

Shrinky Dinks!

Remember when you were a kid and Shrinky Dinks were all the rage?  No...oh that just proves I'm old then!  LOL!  Well I remember and loved them so much, ahh such memories, thanks Mom!  I've used shrink plastic but I found the actual Shrinky Dink plastic, made for your printer, at Michael's.  Expensive, yes but with a coupon it's less painful  :)  This week at Jackson's Digital Expressions it's time to alter something!  One of my favorite challenges.  Your challenge is to alter some type of container (new or recycled) and the theme is Holiday or Winter.  I altered a Crystal Light container and I used the new release image Finishing Touch on Shrinky Dink plastichttp://sewmanyways.blogspot.com/2012/1 and cut it out with my Spellbinder's die.  I punched a snowflake and shrunk it with my heat gun and adhered it with Glossy Accents, love that stuff for attaching small elements!

BEFORE shrinking, colored with Prismacolor pencils and chalks.  The coloring is always darker once you shrink it.

AFTER shrinking

Come join us this week at JDE and challenge yourself to alter something.  Great idea for gift giving or packaging homemade treats!  Have a great week everyone!

Anything Goes Challenge at JDE!

Hi all!

Hope everyone here in the US is safe from Hurricane Sandy!  It's been pretty rough here in Rhode Island!  Thankfully I still have power!!  Whew!  You know crafting by candlelight isn't easy!  LOL!

So this week at Jackson's Digital Expressions it's the Inks and Such team that's hosting the challenge.  The theme is Anything Goes and our sponsor this week is DigiStamps4Joy.  My gift bag uses the Front Door Christmas Tree image from DigiStamps4Joy.  I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils/Gamsol then I stippled over the entire image with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I cut the image and the scalloped circle with Spellbinders dies and matted on My Mind's Eye papers.  I stippled all of the papers, the twine and even the corner dots which are called CANDI.  Propped the image and CANDI dots on dimensionals.

This picture really doesn't do this project justice!  The colors are much richer in person.
Here is the image before I cut it out.

So come join us this week at JDE for our Anything Goes Challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!

Is There Life Before Coffee?

Hi Everyone!

This week at JDE we have a Color Challenge for you!  It's an interesting combo of Teal, Brown and Orange.  And when you look at mine you'll say to yourself  "Um...ok where's the orange?" and I will say to you..."Uh...I messed up!"  Well I knew it was supposed to be orange before I started creating and even during the process but obviously when assembling it I thought "Oh that scrap piece of yellow matches her hair perfectly and I'll place it at the bottom to draw the eye down the entire image..."  Yeah I know...duh!  Well that's what I get for crafting late night without coffee!!  LOL!!  And to top it off I didn't even realize until after I submitted it for the post.  So I could have torn it apart and fixed it but I couldn't because I really love how it came out! So that's my story and I'm sticking to it!  :)  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps and this is the "Coffee" image that comes with the sentiment.

http://kathiscreativetherapy.blogspot.com/2012/10/is-there-life-before-coffee.html
So here's another confession...I messed up when coloring the image too!  And didn't realize until after either!  Unbelievable...   So can you see my mistake?  What I thought was her purse on her shoulder is actually supposed to be her jacket!  See it?  The teal with the pocket that I used Glossy Accents on?  I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't notice but I know and you know what that's like  LOL!

Well if you made it this far...thank you for allowing me to share my mistakes!

Jackson's Digital Expressions CAS Challenge

Hi everyone!  It's time for JDE's weekly challenge but first I'm so excited to share some info!  I've been asked to be the DT Coordinator for JDE!  I can't tell you how flattered I was  :)  I think we have an amazing group of designers and it's been a pleasure working with everyone.  I think Chana and the team have done an incredible job building the blog and challenges over the last 6 months!  I'm looking forward to the next 6 months and our 1 year Blogaversary!

Ok on to this week's CAS (Clean And Simple) challenge which was to use 2 dies in our design.  I have two projects, first is using Robert Jackson's Lil' Mummy.

The dies I used are the Fleur De Lis Square and oval by Spellbinders, the T-shirt is by MFT.  The word art was a freebie from Ginger's House.  Colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

Next I used this week's sponsor image and sentiment from QKR Stampede.  Now I always struggle with CAS so I have two versions of this card.  Once I took the pic of the 1st one I thought it needed something so the 2nd is, in my opinion, the finished one!  :)   So which one do you prefer?

CARD VERSION 1
This is the cropped version of the scarecrow there is more to the image...but anyone who knows me knows I'm crop happy!  LOL!!  I used the square Spellbinders die then rounded the edges and the half circle scallop is by MFT.  Paper from My Mind's Eye.  Colored with Prisma/Gamsol.

CARD VERSION 2

Pink or Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge at JDE!

Hi all!!
This week at Jacksons Digital Expressions our challenge is to create a project using the color pink or a project supporting Breast Cancer Awareness (pink, ribbon, sentiments, etc).  And members of the DT and supporters have decided to donate .25 per entry to go to BC treatment.  So far we are up to $1.25 per entry!  We are not asking for donations we are simply asking to create an item and enter in the challenge at JDE this week.  Please feel free to advertise this on your own blogs because the more entries = more $ donated!

So onto my projects for the week.  First is a card I created using the Awareness Walk digi and I cropped just one girl from the group.

I stippled the cloud background and used an oval Spellbinder for the image which I cut the outline of the girls back.  Colored with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.  The stamp is from My Favorite Things - Pure Innocence - Have Hope set.  The dies are from Verve called Charming Ovals.

JDE is sponsored again this week by Bugaboo Stamps.  I used the Ribbon Bear Leaning digi to make a
5 x 7 photo mat for my cousin who has been dealing with breast cancer herself.  She will be doing the relay for life in October.  I paper pieced the ribbon and the heart on his bum  :)   and I used chalks to color him in.

This week is also Stella Says Sketch #120

matching card - sentiment by Ginger's House

So everybody get your craft on this week and join us for our BCA Challenge and let's raise some money!!

Altered notepad and fixing mistakes

Happy Tuesday...I know back to work after a long weekend here in the states...ugh...

This week at Jackson's Digital Expressions it's time for the Altered Art Challenge.  It's still Anything Goes and our sponsor this week is My Heart Pieces.  I've chosen to cover a notepad for my project.  I used a Robert Jackson new release image called Back to School.

Note paper stamp with matching die and sentiment all by Verve.  Scalloped bottom by Spellbinders.  And ruler washi tape I picked up at AC Moore for $1 and a 5 pack of notepads at Dollar Tree for $1
I had a friend tell me she liked a post where I showed how to fix a mistake I made (you can read it HERE) So I will do that from now on...thanks Linda.  Ok so here is my mistake because I just can't leave well enough alone!  When I was done coloring the crayon above I thought it would look good outlined with a fine tip marker.  Wrong!  I hated it!  And figured I ruined it.  However, I cut the crayon in half and positioned it so the top and bottom of crayon was showing from behind the paper but the letters were not.  Wasn't my initial plan but I think it looks ok  :)
Thanks for stopping by!  And come join us at JDE this week with your projects!
Kathi  :)
